Hop City has returned for its second year at Northern Monk Brew Co. Having missed out last year I was super excited to get my hands on a Saturday evening ticket (cheers Rat!). With hoppy and hazy beers being my preference and tickets selling out in advance I was expecting greatness. Continue reading “Hop City 2018”
Situated five minutes from Huddersfield train station is Arcade Beers, and for a bar this small I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a beer selection as extensive. Blink and you may miss the entrance to this place! As soon as you enter you’re welcomed by a wall of bottles and cans on your left and a bar on your right, serving six lines of draught goodness. Chilled beers are also on offer from the fridges. You’re quite literally surrounded by beer here. Continue reading “Arcade Beers – Huddersfield”
One of the joys of heading to Huddersfield is a trip to Magic Rock brewery. Situated roughly 15 minutes walking distance from the town centre Magic Rock is tucked away in an industrial estate, with the unit providing ample space for the actual brewery, a large taproom and outdoor space which is perfect for summer days with a number of street food vendors taking up residence to accompany your fresh beer. In the quaint Leeds suburb of Horsforth resides the hidden gem that is The Hop Shack, a craft beer micropub and bottle shop that has been serving the community for around 18 months now.
Fierce beer is up there as one of my favourite breweries (along with Tiny Rebel and Wild Beer, but that’s something for another day!). So how better to start my first guest blog than with a post about Fierce Beer! Continue reading “Fierce Beer”
We’re pretty lucky up here in Leeds to have not just one but two great BrewDog bars. Only a few cities around the world can boast such a fact, including Aberdeen (obviously), Edinburgh and London (can we really count London though?). Continue reading “BrewDog bars – Leeds”
Whilst on a recent skiing holiday in Bulgaria we spent our final day in the capital city of Sofia. Obviously this was an excuse to hunt down some craft beer, especially from some local breweries since I haven’t encountered much Bulgarian beer back home in the UK.
A quick Google highlighted we needed to check out a place called KANAAL, but unfortunately it didn’t open until 5:30pm and our time was limited in Sofia before catching our flight home. This was slightly disappointing since it is an Untappd verified venue and their beer menus looked AMAZING, with some ridiculously rare and hard-to-find beers present. Next time perhaps… Continue reading “Nosferatu Craft Beer Shop – Sofia, Bulgaria”
As I’m sure most craft beer lovers are I’m also a BrewDog Equity Punk. Since I bought shares I’ve been hoping BrewDog would release something like the Intergalactic Beer Visa, and now they’ve done just that.
You collect stamps and in return collect rewards. There’s a number of groups such as bars in Scotland, bars in England, etc, and each completion of a group entitles you to a free pint of Punk IPA. Visiting 40 bars entitles you to a ‘This is 40’ reward, but I’m not entirely sure what this is. Must be something substantial as you have to send your passport off at this point to BrewDog to claim it. Continue reading “BrewDog Intergalactic Beer Visa is here”
Hey everyone! A quick welcome to all things beer in and around Leeds. We’ll be focusing mainly on craft beers, but expect a wide range of beer-related topics. There’ll also be brewery tours, bar reviews, beer tasting, shopping guides and everything in between.
So sit back, crack open a cold one and enjoy! 🍻😬
PS: Also be sure to follow me on Untappd for all my beer check-ins.
