LS7: The newest brewery destination of Leeds

The area between Scott Hall and Sheepscar has recently become a Mecca for breweries, so much so there’s now a new Leeds brewery crawl in town.

With the recent additions of Tartarus (taking over North’s old brewery) and Bini Brew Co (taking over Nomadic’s old brewery), combined with longer-established Springwell (North’s new brewery) and Ridgeside, you now have four relatively close options for getting your fresh fix of Leeds craft in LS7.

The best time to tackle this crawl is on a Saturday afternoon into the evening, when all four of the taprooms are open. This route obviously runs both ways, but let’s explore heading along into Leeds city centre.

Stop #1: Springwell

Down Buslingthorpe Lane, just off from the A61 at the junction opposite Sheepscar Bar & Grill

First up on our LS7 brewery tour is the new home of North Brewing. Established in 2021 during the pandemic, the 21,000 sq. ft brewing space and taproom is an epic jewel in the Leeds breweries crown.

As well as North’s own beers there’s always a number of guest beers on at the bar. You’ll also find Little Bao Boy and Kerbside Kids here for your food needs, as well as other regular rotating street food vendors.

Springwell opens at 11am on a Saturday or a Sunday, so start early to incorporate some lunch around some tasty beers ready for the next three breweries...

Get back on to Buslingthorpe Lane, head to The Primrose pub, and get on Meanwood Road heading towards town

Stop #2: Ridgeside

Ridgeside previously only opened their brewery taproom up on regular days, but now you can find them open every Saturday from 2pm - plenty of time to enjoy Springwell and walk down.

Apologies for the lack of photos, but we actually need to get down to see you... 😅🍻

Get back on to Meanwood Road and head towards Claypit Lane, where you get back on to the A61 again

Stop #3: Bini Brew Co

The newest of the four on this list is Bini Brew Co. You may have visited their Ilkley brewery but now they’ve got a new spot in Nomadic’s old unit.

With such a light and airy open brewery and adjoining taproom you can enjoy some fresh pints here until 10pm. Although, we’d recommend leaving some time for the final brewery on our LS7 tour…

Cross back over the A61 down Benson Street, turn left down Sheepscar Grove and on to Taverners Walk

Stop #4: Tartarus

///slams.bunch.proof

If you ever went to North’s OG brewery then you’ll know exactly where Tartarus are located. They bought the unit from North in 2022 and have been delivering the goods from Taverners Walk ever since.

With plenty of seating inside and a generous number of higher ABV beers consistently on the taps, Tartarus is the perfect place to raise a toast to this journey.

You could call into BrewDog North Street or The Brunswick afterwards, if you haven’t succumbed to the incredible strength beers that Tartarus are famous for.

Congratulations! You've just completed the newest craft brewery crawl in the city! 🥳🍻
