Sesh Fest 2018

Despite having a number of excellent festivals, we feel the UK is still short of brewery-led festivals, organised by brewers for brewers and drinkers alike.

With this in mind, we have decided to organise our own beer festival to recognise the friends and breweries who have inspired and supported us over the last six years, to introduce the beer fans of the UK to some of the best of World Beer and to get together for a good old knees up.

Also, the beer at most festivals is too bloody strong, right? How many people want to drink 12% stout at lunchtime? Ok some of you do… but in homage to our local volume-drinking roots, our festival will celebrate the best session beers with all beer poured being 4.5% abv and under.

The intention is for a relaxed vibe at our brewery Taproom over one single session on the Saturday 12pm – 11pm with great food and music in support.

For the inaugural festival on June 9th we’ve invited 30 of the best session beer producers in the UK and further afield to join us and we hope you’ll be there too!

Tickets for the event are limited to 600 @ £10 each (plus booking fee) and will include 4 tokens (tokens are half a pint each) and a glass.

Tickets go on sale via Eventbrite on Thursday February 1st at 9am, the following breweries are confirmed for the event (more to be announced soon).

Tap Social Special : Record Store Day 2018 (DJ sets)

We’ve invited some of our musical friends and associates to come down to the Tap and celebrate Record Store Day UK with us. Playing records on the day will be :

Hookworms / 3pm – 5.30pm
Matt and Jonny from Yorkshire based ‘psyche noise pop group’ come to play their favourite pieces of round plastic.

Fold / 5.30pm – 7pm
Fold are gaining a solid reputation as a gem in the crown of the Yorkshire music scene. When BBC 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne planned a special broadcast out of Huddersfield’s iconic Vinyl Tap on the eve of Record Store Day 2017 they chose Fold to represent the region in a live session. So we asked them back for 2018 to DJ at the Tap, makes sense.

Vinyl Tap Records / 7pm – 8.30pm
Local legends of all things vinyl, collectively tired from the busiest day of their lives, they come to party with us at the Tap to celebrate this very special day, we love them.

Bodie and Karl Roscoe (Ecklego) / 8.30pm – 11pm
Ecklego came about when three collector selectors, whose passions lie in different musical spheres, banged their heads together and decided to do something regular. Five months on, Bodie, Karl Roscoe and Waka invite friends to play records with them every Wednesday at the bubbling musical hub that is the Golden Lion Todmorden

Magic Rock brewery & tap – Huddersfield

Magic Rock Brewing sign

One of the joys of heading to Huddersfield is a trip to Magic Rock brewery. Situated roughly 15 minutes walking distance from the town centre Magic Rock is tucked away in an industrial estate, with the unit providing ample space for the actual brewery, a large taproom and outdoor space which is perfect for summer days with a number of street food vendors taking up residence to accompany your fresh beer.
